Pillars of Iman

In the hadith of Jibril, the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, defined Iman: "It is to believe in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, and the Last Day, and to believe in the decree, its good and its bad." Narrated by Muslim.

Belief in Allah

Firm belief that Allah is the one Lord and God, worshipped alone without partner, and belief in His names and attributes as revealed in the Quran and the authentic Sunnah, without distortion, likening, asking how, or denial.

Belief in the Angels

Firm belief that Allah created the angels from light, that they never disobey His commands, and that they carry out the duties He has assigned to them.

Belief in the Revealed Books

Belief in the books Allah sent down to His messengers: the Torah to Musa, the Gospel to Isa, the Zabur to Dawud, the Scriptures of Ibrahim, and the Quran to Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him.

Belief in the Prophets and Messengers

Belief in all the prophets and messengers Allah named in the Quran, twenty five in number, and that Allah sent others whose number only He knows. Whoever rejects one of them has rejected them all.

Belief in the Last Day

Belief in everything Allah and His Messenger told of what comes after death: the trial of the grave, its punishment and bliss, the resurrection, the gathering, the reckoning, the scale, the bridge, the intercession, and Paradise and Hell.

Belief in the Divine Decree, Its Good and Its Bad

Belief that everything in existence, good and bad, happens by the decree of Allah. Good deeds are by His decree, His love, and His pleasure; evil is by His decree, yet without His love or His pleasure.
